Endpoint Security - Installing HX on Windows
Before you begin: Verify that the endpoint is running on Windows 10 or 11. Servers should be on Windows Server 2019 (or 2016 with extended support). Previous Windows versions are not supported and HX may not install or work properly. Verify that you have administrator privileges prior to installation. Uninstall any other anti-virus solutions from the device. An uninstall password may be needed. (Note: Removing an anti-virus software does not mean the subscription is cancelled. Contact the vendor to stop billing or cancel auto-renewal.) Step 1: Download Trellix/FireEye Agent Installer Access the Dropbox folder shared with you by Ostra or your IT department and open the Windows folder. Open the Ostra AV Windows folder. Click on the zip file. Click on Download. Step 2: Extract Trellix/FireEye HX Wizard IMPORTANT: Click on Extract all. The agent will not install properly if you open the installer without extracting first. Click on Extract. Step 3: Run Trellix/FireEye HX Wizard Open the xagtSetup file to open the setup wizard. Click Next on the welcome screen. Check the box and click Next to accept the license agreement, then click Next and Install through the next two prompts. Restart the machine. Common Issues and Fixes Contact your Ostra onboarding contact to validate that the machine is checking in. If not, check the following: Open Task Manager and verify that there are ongoing xagt processes. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps. You should see Trellix Endpoint Security on the list. If there is another anti-virus installed on the device, uninstall it and restart the machine. Search for any remaining files associated with that software and delete them too. If the device is still not checking in, a troubleshooting session over Zoom may be needed. Please contact onboarding@ostra.net if this guide needs to be updated.
